First topic message reminder :

This is where the Society's den resides. It a safe place for wolves because only rabbits and mice live here. It a great place for pups to be raised, and taught how to hunt. By the Den there is a trail leading to the more dangerous Upper Peak.

Niji laid in-between the two females. He felt that one of the females lick his head. He could hear one female talking, but it was muffled because his head was in the fur. It was a calming and happy effect on him that he was in-between two females. The warmth of their fur made him feel like jello. The smell of the two them were different, but it calmed his mind. It reminded of his family that he lost so long ago. Slowly his body allowed him to sleep. His tongue slightly stuck out, and his tail slightly wagged for only a second. He was very content in his little warm huddle between the two females.

Raven listened to the female wolfdog silently. "..I bet you don't even know why...." Raven flattened her ears slightly. The female had the prominent smell of smoke on her fur. "He died in the fire." She said. Her voice was without emotion. She curled tighter around the sleeping pup. He felt his tail slap softly against her belly and then it was still. She nudged his head with her nose, to make sure he was asleep. "My father died at the hands of man, wolfdog," she said, her silver eyes sparkling. "You complain of his death, as swift as it was. My father was not so lucky, nor was my mother or my unborn siblings. All of their deaths were long and full of agony. My mother died with childbirth, she suffered for a long time as did the young insider her before they all died. My father was slowly crushed and suffocated to death at the hands of an avalanche. We both were survived it but he could not reach the surface in time and I could not dig down to him fast enough. The weight of the ice crushed his lungs and he suffocated. I was so close I could hear his ragged breaths. He could not speak to me. When I reached him he was already dead, still warm and he was gray. He was stiff, the skin under his claws was a brilliant blue. I could not dig him out. He is still up there on the mountain. I know exactly where it is." She stood suddenly and walked out of the den. It was too hot in the small space. She went to the male Raiden and stood next to him. She rubbed her muzzle though the fur on his shoulders, she enjoyed his silent company in times when she remembered. They stood on the large rock and watched the canids below them.

The Den and The Green Hills - Page 3 Empty re: the den and green hills

Post by Guest Wed Feb 06, 2013 1:44 am

Alaska woke with a start when Raven spoke, she didn't know that Raven's parents had died, much less how they died until now, and she felt sorry for the wolf. "I bet they didn't die by the paws of a trusted friend." She said to herself, remaining silent to everyone else. Suddenly she got up, remembering the camp and the people that gave her the bone, the only decent people in the camp, without a word, she ran out of the den, running towards the tent of the humans she befriended. Alaska looked around, then heard a cry, she ran into the almost completely burned down tent, with the smoke stinging her eyes, it was hard to see, but she managed to find the human's baby, trapped in a way no human could ever get to him, she gently grabbed the baby and dashed out of the camp. She raced to where the humans that survived were, relived to see both of her friends alive and well, but crying, thinking that they lost their baby the way she'd lost her father. Alaska gently set the baby at the lady's feet and wagged her tail. The lady gasps "honey look, Chica brought our baby out of the fire! Good dog!" The lady hugged Alaska and picked up her son "thank you Chica, you are the best dog ever!" Alaska wagged her tail even faster then ever before, even though she lost her father, she still saved a life, and knowing that her human friends were okay felt great, no human would ever replace her father, but it still made her feel good. She also knew that this would make the humans give respect to dogs, and it would end some of the conflict between the two. Alaska loped back to the den still upset but feeling better, and it showed, although her once lilac and white coat was now black and grey and her paws and ears were burnt and her eyes stung.

Kimmi notices the pup was okay, so decided to go back to Warner. "Hey,sorry I saw a pup. Raven has him noe though so it's okay." Kimmi smiled and rubbed her nose against Warner's nose. "You seem tense." she smiled. "Anything you want to talk about?" Kimmi looked behind her and saw Alaska. She wondered why she looked upset. 'must be her father..' she thought, then turned back to Warner.

***Sharon***
Sharon saw other wolves moving around, and the pups doing their business, and nodded towards Raiden, the male. She thought the young wolf was doing better, but to heal it more quickly, she tried to make her way, and bring a small handful of herbs she had collected earlier. She gave the wolf some thyme, then some of juniper leaves. After she applied on the wolf, to lower the pain, she sat back down, waiting.

***Warner***
Warner saw Kimmi come back, and also the wolf, and he sat down. He slightly smiled and nodded, as Kimmi came back. He felt her nose, soft and young, and smiled. He looked back to the other wolf, who Kimmi was talking to.

Kimmi laid down infront of Warner, her head in her paws. She looked up at Warner, and wagged her tail. "Your cute." She smiled and giggled. She had a liking for this wolf, unlike any other liking she ever felt. She felt something different about him. He wasn't like any other wolf she liked. Warner seemed so much nicer and gentler than the other wolves she knew, and she loved it.

Raven stood next to the male and closely watched the interaction between the wolfdog Kimmi and the wolf Warner. It seemed they were showing affection to each other. She cocked her head slightly and groaned softly. She licked Raiden's cheek and slipped silently away from him and the rest of the pack. She followed Alaska's tracks and soon found the charred body of a border collie. His luxuriant fur was burned and he still smelled of smoke. He was still and, though Alaska had already told her he was dead, she couldn't help but rub her nose through his fur and attempted to move the head on the now stiff neck. The ears were cocked and the soft brown eyes were glassy. His tongue lolled out of his mouth faintly. Raven looked up and could see where Alaska dragged him through the trees. She sighed. She felt responsible. She lied next to the body for a long time, almost like he was still alive. She, enjoyed?, his company. She talked with him, like she would have with her own father. She told him things she had not told Alaska. Not told Kage. Not even Raiden... She told the dead dog she had, indirectly, caused the avalanche that took her father's life. When she was young she loved to sing, she would sing loud and beautifully. She could charm the creature called men with her voice, and that was his downfall. They were chased by them, after they discovered her lovely voice. They chased them over the dangerous mountains and that's when it happened. Ever since his death, her voice had been harsh and cold, like the ice entombing her father. She no longer sang, no longer knew how to. When she was done talking with the dead male she carried him to the river and laid him delicatly in the water. As his body drifted slowly down stream she howled, long and tired. She howled for Alaska's father and she howled for her Father and her Mother and her unborn siblings. When she ran out of breath she returned, very tiredly, to the den and laid next to Raiden. Though she was tired, she felt like a great weight had been lifted off her back.

Alaska got back to the den in better spirits then before, she smelled even stronger of smoke then before and her coat was now black, her fur was scoured in the hot flames, and her paws were burnt, but it didn't seem to matter to her, she wasn't even frowning, in fact she was smiling. She saw Kimmi and Warner together, she was glad Kim had made a new friend, then Alaska saw Raven, obviously happy, she didn't know what happened while she was on her second daring fire rescue, so, a hot anger burned in her at Raven, though it didn't change her outer appearance, but changed her mood inside deeply. Instead of sleeping in the den, she lay on the grass and rocks on top of the den, trying to avoid Raven at all costs, not realizing just how sorry Raven was.

***Sharon***
Sharon smiled, and decided for some rest. She slowly walked to near the den, where it was shady, and she couldn't see much, and lied down.

***Warner***
Warner giggled, his real playful side showing up. He rolled on the ground in front of the sweet Kimmi, then laughed. He almost blushed when she told him she was cute, but found a straight face and lowered his head, as a thank you. He gently pushed his head against hers, almost whispering the same she told him. He looked back, and saw a half burnt wolf, the other pup, and smiled. He nodded and mentioned the wolf to come join them play.

Post by Guest Wed Feb 06, 2013 11:48 pm

"I really don't feel like it" Alaska said, frowning "I've been through allot today" she said, looking at her ash covered pelt. The wolfdog was a little upset again, she sniffed, then one last time for the night, against the full moon, she howled one more beautiful, sad song "why did I spend my life longing for the day that it would end, when did spend time out crying to another claaaaan, isn't that crazy? Oh I have not been called to the wisdom of this world, but to my God who's calling out to me, even though you may think I'm losing touch with reality, it'd be crazy to choose this world, over eternityyyyyy, call me crazy, you can call me crazyyyy, oh you can call me crazy, but I have not been called to the wisdom of this world but to a God, calling out to meeeee, and even though the world may think I'm losing Touch with reality it'd be crazy, it'd be crazy, it'd be crazyyyyy to choose this worrlld over eternity, you can call me craaazzyyy." She ended her sorrowful song, a tear dripped down her muzzle as she hung her head and then raised her head in a long traditional wolf howl with no words or meaning to show her final mourn for her father, then she lay down to sleep on top of the den.

Kimmi play bowed to Warner, then looked back to Alaska. "Come play Alaskaa.! It could help take your mind off of things.!" she said, and playfully pounced on Warner, playfully tugging his ear. She was so happy she made a new friend, especially one she liked so much.

Alaska looked at Kimmi "my father just died Kim, I'm sure you didn't feel like playing when your mother died" Alaska said reminiscing Kimmi's own mother's tragic death. Alaska lay her head back down on the rocks and grass, she knew Kimmi didn't know what had just happened to her, but she did know that Kimmi knew the feeling she had.

Kimmi immediately stopped playing. She climbed off of Warner, and bowed her head. She stared at the ground until tears fell from her eyes. She shut her eyes tight and dug her claws into the ground. "I'm so sorry, Alaska. I shouldn't have said anything..." Kimmi folded her ears back and quietly whimpered and cried, not caring Warner was watching her cry. She truly missed her mother more than anything. She knew exactly how Alaska felt, and guilt washed over her. Kimmi laid in the grass beside Warner and cried.

"I'm sorry Kimmi, I didn't mean to make you cry" Alaska felt a tear fall from her one of her own eyes, she got up from her perch and sat next to Kimmi, trying not to cry again, her usually erect right ear drooped like the left one, she sniffed to try to choke back her tears, but instead of looking down, she looked up at the clear night sky. Suddenly, she heard something coming from the direction of the now destroyed camp, Alaska spun around, then gasped, even with snow on the ground sparks had flew to a dead tree and caught it on fire! "Kimmi we need to get out of here, now!" Alaska yelled, looking at the quickly spreading fire. "Wild fire! Everyone get out of here!" Alaska shouted to the pack, her sorrow turned into fear instantly. Alaska ran to the den and grabbed Niji, and made sure Kimmi was with her, then she ran as fast as she could to a shallow part in the river.

***Sharon***
Sharon was peacefully resting, until she heard the pups again. 'Ugh, what is it this time...' she growled. She wasn't in the mood to calm them down and tried to cover her ears. She dug deeper into the ground, and tried to sleep.

***Warner***
Warner was laughing with Kimmi until the other female, Alaska came and the scene changed. It was all gloomy and sad, both females crying. He didn't know what to do, so he tried to comfort them, but they seemed too emotional. He sighed, got closer, trying to talk them out of this. Trying to get over on the other side, he stepped closer to them, but tripped over a small tree root. 'Ouch! Ugh, ow, that hurt,..guys, wait! Where are you going, ow!?" While he was getting back to his feet, Alaska shouted something and left. He tilted his head, then tried rubbing his eyes. When he got back up, with his vision cleared, he saw Alaska, running off and wondered why. Suddenly, he saw flames surrounding him, getting closer each minute.

From atop of the den, Raiden resided when he had heard Alaska yelling. He smelt smoke from afar. A fire had struck near the den, Raiden jumps down and went inside the den to alert the others of the dangers they will soon encounter. "Everyone wake up! Leave immediately!" He yelled at them. He went near the expectant wolf and nuzzled her gently, being really wary of her condition. "Everyone out of the den NOW!" He yelled again. He was panicking, he knew he was but he remained calm as he could possibly could. He tried to help everyone but he could not do this alone. "Raven! Help the others!" He asked for her help.

Raven jumped to her feet. She heard noises that frightened her. Raiden was yelling, he almost never yelled unless he really had to, and she heard the cracking of fire. She hurried to the den and saw flames come toward the den. She hurried inside. The fox, Fiera, Sharon, and Raiden were inside. She heard Raidens calls and quickly lifted the carrying fox up onto her back, careful of the kit inside her. Raiden helped and escorted the carrying wolf Sharon. Raven picked up a pup on her way out to the den. "Raiden, Iggy, and wolf dogs," she called, looking at Alaska and Kimmi. "Each of you get a pup and help the others. Follow me quickly." She herded the fox, Tarnish with her, trusting the male Maddox to bring up the rear. Rin followed them. They were a good ways away from the den when she lowered the pup to the ground. "Maddox take him." She turned toward the fire. "Raiden take the strays to where the heavens touch the earth they will be safe there. I must return for kage."

Alaska waded into the shallows of the river keeping Niji above the freezing water "we'll be safe here Kimmi, I've warned the others" then she saw the pack walking in a direction that lead to a even larger mountain "Kim look, everyones going to that mountain" she said. Alaska walked out of the water then started cantering in the direction of the others "hey, wait up!" Alaska shouted.

FIERA

Fiera was startled, she could feel her stomach growling. Although, this was her kit yearning to meet the fresh air. She then realized Raven was carrying her and Tarnish was running to the side."What's happening? Will we be safe?" Fiera hyperventilated, worried she would die before her kit could breathe. Fiera scratched Raven's furry back, yipping and barking, now feeling a bit territorial that Raven was very close to her. She hissed, then perked her ears. "I'm so sorry. I'm just going through the emotions..." She looked down to the side shamefully and flattened her pointy ears. Fiera looked to the side to Tarnish, and silently wept a tear. I don't know what to do, this just feels like everything is dragging on, Fiera whispered and heard an echo in her thoughts. She slowly curled up into a ball, with her fluffy tail hiding the tears, and awaited scoldings, responses, and results to be revealed from the muzzle of Raven - one of Fiera's most trusted friends. Fiera had trusted Raven since the start, and did not want to leave her back.

FIERA

Fiera shivered as she was flipped across Raven's back. The black wolf was sure strong, and swift, but Fiera could outrun anyone, anytime - just not right now. The fox whinced as she felt a sharp pain shoot across her lower abdomen, and she fell to the ground. Fiera cried out for help, but suddenly, the knife finished cutting. She was a bit better now, and shook her glossy fur plainly. She had a straight face, and sat upon the soft grass to wait for further instructions.

Kimmi shot up looked at Alaska. " I'll be right back.!" Kimmi bolted to where she and Warner were. She saw the flames and started coughing. She called hi name hoping he would answer, an tried to dodge the flames and smoke. She could hardly breathe, and felt ill. She saw warner in a circle of flames, and kept running through them. By the time she reached him, she had sever burn marks and cloudy eyes. She whined and muzzled him, but instead collapsed on the ground. Feeling sick and weak and in pain, but still alive.

Alaska was about halfway to the mountain, when she realized that Kimmi wasn't with her, Alaska started to panic, then raced back to the den at top speed, then she saw Kimmi the way her father was "Kimmi!" she gasped then she ran and slung the fox Warner on her back and picked up Kimmi, then ran back to the others at twenty mph. pretty fast for someone carrying a dog and a fox. The wolves where now 2/3 of the way to the large mountain. By now, Alaska was scoured and had places where her fur was missing and her eyes where so blurry that she was almost blind. Yet the wolfdog still wouldn't give up on any of her friends, she'd already saved one life and was more then willing to do it again.

***Sharon***
Sharon was also startled as the pack was fleeing away. She looked at Fiera, trying to help her. She could tell she was going to give birth very soon. As for herself, she wasn't very comfortable, but it was manageable. She quickly walked to where the wolves were fleeing to. She saw that Raven had covered Fiera, and she saw the pups had already gone. She quickly walked to the mountain.

***Warner***
Warner had just recovered, and was trying to get his way out of the flames. He heard Kimmi coming towards the way, and not wanting his friends to get hurt, he yelled "No! I'll-...(cough) I'll be there real soon!" He shouted and with one jump, he sprinted into the fire, for a moment, he thought he was totally burned into ashes, then, he kept running, until he shot out of the fire, and fell to the floor. He wasn't badly burned, but he stood up, then tried to make his way towards the mountain.
