Hunters of all sizes and Warriors use this area the most. The grass is tall and yellow offering lots of the necessary cover to hunt well. Many creatures weave their paths of life here. Beware of Lynx, and Bears, but look out for rabbits, mice, marmots, and spurs hens. This place can provide a fast meal, or your last meal.

The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey Empty Re: The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey

Post by Raven Fri Jan 11, 2013 8:39 pm

The large black Dire named Raven laid stretched out on a large rock in the meadow. From her vantage point on her rock she could see for miles around. The almost never-ending night hung like a blanket above her. The stars dotted the sky and she looked at them with longing. The moonlight made her fur appear almost silvery on the edges. She looked toward the den area, hidden deep in the grasses. The two other males, Kage and Raiden were sleeping there. She had come to this spot alone, seeking only the comforts of the night. She loved this time, when the nights were long and the days were all but absent. She curled her long black tail gently around her hindlegs. She crossed one large forepaw over the other and stared, almost patiently at the sky. The cool night air ruffled through her fur and the tall pines around the meadow. She turned her nose to the wind and closed her eyes, savoring the feel of it running around her. It stopped and she opened her eyes. She blinked a few times and looked skyward again. She lowered her ears to her head and looked the beautiful stars. Sometimes, the Auroras would shine down and turned the Earth vibrant colors. She loved them more than the stars. They only came a few scattered times a year, the stars were here every night. As was the moon, the lovely moon. She knew it was late and she should return to the den before the males awoke, but she didn't want to. Instead she gave a long low howl, careful to be quiet so she wouldn't wake the males. She sang a long time as she sat on that rock. She did this every night. With a sigh she stood, her dark claws clicking on the surface of the stone, and walked to the den. Her two friends snored contently, unaware of her absence or return. She laid between them. One of them shifted in his sleep but that was all. She licked each of them once on the nose before curling into a ball and waited for sleep to claim her.

The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey Empty Re: The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey

Post by Guest Fri Jan 11, 2013 9:10 pm

Maddox carefully followed the strong sound that broke the silence of the night. He was surprised at how long the wolf's song lasted, without even breaking for a breath. "Strong lunges." He whispered to himself as the wolf's scent grew stronger. He stopped suddenly, realizing this wolf wasn't alone. There was at least one other. Maybe two. He couldn't be sure. At that point, he was just glad to have night's cloak to conceal him from view.

Taking a couple steps forward, he tried to adjust his vision to see the sleeping figures in some sort of den, but it was futile. The thick black of the deep night left him nearly blind and he couldn't make out the number of inhabitants it held.

Quickly getting bored of his futile spying, he began to look for the food his stomach was begging for. A pack was bound to have some unneeded carcasses littered around, right? Shoving his muzzle toward the grass, he began his attempt in finding an easy meal.

Raven laid between the two males. She couldn't sleep. She laid her head on the ground and sighed making a small cloud of dust rise. It was silent around her. Nothing made a sound, except the quiet snoring of her two companions. A stick cracked outside and she flicked back an ear. She wasn't that interested. It was probably a rabbit, but she didn't want to hunt right now though. She heard a footstep and lifted her head over one of the male's shoulders and looked at the entrance to the den. She saw a dark silhouete against the stars. It was too small to be a bear and yet, to small to be a fox. It shifted postion as it tried harder to see into the secluded den. She raised one of her lips but didn't growl. She didn't want to alert the males. It was probably nothing worthwhile. The figure slipped away and the silence was once again. She lowered her lip and laid back down. She felt her hackles flatten back against her spine. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep. One thought kept her awake. 'What was that?' she thought. She shifted postion but couldn't get comfortable. Reluctantly she stood, nuzzled each of the males shoulders and slipped out after the den. She looked around and saw the fleeting glimpse of the creature. Her claws dug into the earth and she chased after it into the night.

Maddox continued to stumble blindly, relying on his nose to lead him to any scraps of available food. He cautiously lifted his head. Careless pads on solid ground was the only sound to reach his ears. He had been followed. He turned toward the ominous sound, letting a small snarl rip from his throat as he backed toward the cover of trees. He wasn't the fastest wolf, and he could easily be caught with his empty stomach to slow him down. He lowered his ears defensively. He could no longer hear the stranger. He must have stopped. The thick blackness of night had betrayed him twice that night, and his eyes darted constantly, unaware of the exact or relative location of this new threat.

The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey Empty Re: The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey

Post by Raven Sat Jan 12, 2013 11:02 pm

Raven saw the wolf stop and slid stealthily into the cover of the shadows. Now she was invisible, except for her bright blue eyes. She saw him snarl and heard his growl. He didn't see her. He wouldn't see her until she wanted him too. She didn't know if he came alone or in numbers she wasn't aware of. She thought of something. It was a tactic her father had taught her. It made a single wolf appear more formidible. It induced fear of the unknown into the intruder; they do not know how many are there until they reveal themselves or they were dead. She bared her teeth into a smile and quickly closed them. "Who are you?" she called. She leaped several feet to the side, still hidden in the shadows. She went farther and called. Then jumped the other way. She went in a complete circle, confusing the male. "Who are you?" she kept calling. She was enjoying herself as she ran around invisible in the shadows. She was a black ghost.

"Who are you?"

Maddox swiveled toward the sound of the voice, trying to see It's possessor but to no prevail.

"Who are you?"

From his left. He flattened his ears defensively, baring his teeth at the other wolf.

"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"

There was more of them than he had anticipated. He spun in a circle as each voice spoke, before testing the air. Only one wolf's scent reached his nose, and he couldn't figure how he could only smell one of the group at their close proximity. He barked a warning, his white teeth catching in the light of the moon aggressively. What was going on?

The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey Empty Re: The Dangerous Meadow Harbors Many Prey

Post by Fiera Sun Jan 13, 2013 9:12 pm

The sneaky little fox so called Fiera climbed up a pine tree nearby to scout the area. A wolf was in a bit of trouble, so she grinned and watched the confusion on his face. She swayed her tail like a cat beneath the branch she sat upon, and started walking onto a longer branch quietly. She carefully eyed the wolf, then saw another faintly running in the shadows. She took a step back, and observed the wolf in the wide open air. She grunted, and leaped off the tree elegantly. Fiera shook her tail to and fro, then approached the wolf with a voice like silk. "Hello, wolf. I am Fiera, a fox of the forest. And who may you be? Not an offense, though I haven't noticed you both around here." She bowed down respectfully, and she knew this was a tradition for wolves to do. She sat in her place and awaited an answer worth, well, waiting for. She could also see little blue dots in some areas, constantly moving, with the echo of "Who are you?" in the air. Fiera didn't fear anything. She only feared being scared.

Post by Guest Sun Jan 13, 2013 9:32 pm

Maddox flinched as a red fox flew from the branch of a nearby tree, the limb of the pine waved hello from her momentum.

"Hello, wolf. I am Fiera, a fox of the forest. And who may you be? Not an offense, though I haven't noticed you both around here."

Maddox was left utterly confused. This femme just jumped into a circle of wolves, no hint of fear in her voice as she spoke or even in her eyes as she rested her icey gaze on him. Maddi wasn't exactly in the mood for talking. He was kinda busy trying to find a way out of the situation he got himself in to. Frankly, this fox had already gotten on his bad side. He was about ready to snap. His fur bristled unconciously and he bared his teeth at Fiera. She seemed a respectful femme, but he wasn't in the mood to chat.

Rin

-----

The large wolf stayed hidden while the scene occurred right before him. Rin was crouched down on his stomach as he watched the female play a mind game on the male who was standing before her. He could see the ebony female leaping around the confused brute calling out a single phrase. Her trickery and motions intrigued Rin and caused him to lift the corners of his maw into a smile. He huffed a laugh and narrowed his eyes as yet another canid came into view. This creature was a fox, it seemed she was unaware of what the darker female was doing and could also see her. The Dire wolf/Epicyon hybrid stood, his muscular body now see able to those who took much detail to their surroundings. Even though Rin was now very much noticeable he still took precautions and stayed away from those in front of him. He waited for the right moment to actually reveal himself to the others, so he stood; motionless. His burgundy eyes were narrowed, watching every move the canids made, just in case he had to take action suddenly.

"Oh, I see how it is, wolf. I'll go, if you please. May I suggest, watching your back?" Fiera grinned, stood up, and hissed. She swiftly dragged her tail along the wolf's mouth, teasing it to bite. Before the male could even catch a hair, she gracefully leaped onto the tree, and climbed up it's bark to her perch. She swayed her tail villianously, and cleared her throat to speak her wit once more. "Hmm, now, that question still lingers, correct? Who, are you?" She saw the black wolf out of the corner in her eye, and quickly leaped out of the tree onto the wild wolf's back. She rode this large black wolf carelessly, and managed to speak into it's ear. "Now now dear, do you think it's nice to tease the poor fellow?" Fiera seemed calm as she rode the magnificent creature, and she whispered Who are you as she tagged along with the mockery.

Raven felt a light weight land on her back and she snuffled a yelp of surprise. She realized it was a fox. She growled to herself. The game was over. She walked into the open so the male could see her. She felt the fox sit proudly on her back. She didn't care much. It was just a light weight compared to her bulk and her thick fur provided enough grip for the needle claws that the creature didn't need to dig into her skin. "My name is Raven," she whispered to the fox. She chuckled softly at the clever creatures mockery. She looked at the intruder wolf. Now that she was up close she could see the male clearer. "Who are you?" She asked, repeating herself and the fox on her back.

"Oh, I see how it is, wolf. I'll go, if you please. May I suggest, watching your back?"

Maddox rolled his eyes at the femme as she spoke. He eyed the fox suspiciously as her tail was weaved along his maw. He held back the need to sneeze as her banner was tugged away.

"Hmm, now, that question still lingers, correct? Who, are you?"

Her voice remained calm and even as she spoke, and the fact that it did infuriated him.

"I'm not in the mood for games Squirrel." He sneered, trailing her movements from her perch in a near tree. He shook his head in dismay as she jumped into the shadows, preferably never to be seen again. Nope. The fearless rat was riding a wolf rodeo style. Weirdest day ever. He thought to himself as the two shilluettes (Spail) were united.

"Now now dear, do you think it's nice to tease the poor fellow?"

What? "I knew it." He huffed arrogantly as the black wolf emerged from the shadows.

"I'm Maddox." He said briskly whe the black femme asked for his name. The wole scene made him feel uncomfortable and he was itching to leave.

"Well, hello! Im Fiera, a fox of the forest. Nice to meet you, Raven. It appears we both have the same question for a certain someone, now don't we?" She swiftly leaped off the wolves back, and hopped onto a little rock. Not her best place to rest, but it would do. She stared at the jet black wolf and nodded respectfully, then faced the male. Fiera spoke clearly and cleverly, "So, it seems both of us just have to know your name. Well, aren't you famous." She chuckled, and approached the wolf with confidence. She smirked, and had her legs ready to leap if this wolf would take a nip at her. Just to be sure he wouldn't have ideas, she climbed her tree and perched directly above the two. She smiled warmly at the female black wolf, and gave a deadly stare to the male with brown fur. It was like Fiera had two lives - that of a bunny as sweet as a tulip, and that of a bear as deadly as fire. Not to mention, her amazing sense of wit.

Raven nodded at the male. "Nice to meet you Maddox." She felt the weight shift and the fox landed lightly on the ground and laid on a rock. The fox didn't come up halfway to her elbow so she had to lower her head almost to the ground so she could her its soft words. Suddenly the swift fox jumped back up into its tree and looked down at them. She looked up at it her ears perked. She was half expecting to see it jump back down on her. When all it did was sit and swish its tail at them she looked back at the male. "So what are you doing here?" She asked.

Fiera flicked her tail at the question. She tilted her head to show she wasn't quite sure who Raven was directing the question to. She climbed back down, which she didn't mind to go through the process. Fiera was an active creature, who loved almost every activity nature had to offer. She smiled at Raven, and answered her question, with a question. "I am a fox, am I not? I do live in the forest, and meadows as well, do I not? I should be trying to make the best of life, should I not?" She felt good about her statements, and grinned. Fiera, not too hard to say actually, enjoyed this black wolf's company. She felt a bond with her, so she walked to the wolf and wrapped her fluffy tail around it's paw. She looked up at the wolf with a smile, and leaned against her fur. It was so lovely, she was completely fascinated. As Fiera was busy with the fur, she pulled her head away to face the male, waiting for his excuse.

"Nice to meet you Maddox."

He nodded curtly toward the black dire 'Raven' as she spoke.

"So what are you doing here?"

Maddox never liked speaking, he simply shrugged. "Just passing through." He said gruffly, his gaze flipping from Raven to Fiera. "Hoping to find a bit of food, ya know?" He didn't feel he needed to say anything more. Raven didn't seem to mean any harm. Feira on the other hand... well, he was confident he could handle anything she could dish out. The smugly expectant look on her face was reason enough to rip her head off. (He has a bit of anger issuesxD) He returned her look with a flash of teeth.

Raven watched the fox slip down out of her perch again. She listened to the sly fox's answer. "Very well," she said. She looked at the male and heard his say. "You may pass without conflict, Maddox. There is a bountiful supply of rabbits this year." The vixen slid towards her and tied its tail around her leg like a scarf. She saw the male flash her teeth at the smaller animal and Raven cast him a warning glance. "I do not permit fighting here." She said evenly. She looked both at the fox and the wolf. "I mean that for both of you. Do not start a fight and do not provoke a fight."

Fiera simply flicked her tail at Maddox. The male clearly didn't understand how to speak properly, or even what he was doing here. The fox grinned, and took advantage of his shyness and threats. "Woah there, little doggy. Slow down." She looked up to Raven. "Isn't this male talking far too fast? I can barely hear a word he's saying!" She mocked the wolf, then thought about approaching him once more with a more 'respectful' greeting. Fiera had manners, and was an etiquette fox. She had been polite enough for the stranger. She sighed, and realeased the warm grip on Raven. Creatures these days just didn't appreciate her kindness, etiquette, manners, not even the use of her wit on others.

Maddox somehow in his twisted mind, took the femme's words as a challenge. Who named her the boss of this place?

"Woah there, little doggy. Slow down. Isn't this male talking far too fast? I can barely hear a word he's saying!"

"Watch yourself you little rat." He snarled, his hackles rising at the challenge these femmes were offering. He was ready for a full out fight at that point, infact he was hungerly awaiting it. His tail twitched threatningly as he flattened his ears in hostility.

"Hmm. Rat? Where?" Fiera perked her ears and looked around. This was a joke. Threats to this male were probably a matter of attacking something. Oh, well, I guess that's just how wolves want life to be, she thought. A matter of living and dieing. "Dear, do you see the beauty in life?" She walked over to a flower carelessly and sat nearby it. "Look at it. How it's petals flow in the wind. Now, I do know wolves see in black and white, so I believe you don't see it's colors? They're blue. A lovely shade of blue. As for it's stem, an elegant green." She smiled warmly and sniffed the delicate little plant. She approached the male, nodded, and curled her own tail around his bulky foot. She sighed in relief, for this wolf had comfortable fur as Raven did.

Tarnish Padded up a new path of twists and turns. The tall grass hiding her every move. "Where am I??" She wonders to herself. Once she tops a near-by hill she spots a new thing- animals of another kind and another fox. Even though it wasn't a Spring Fox like herself, a fox is a fox. Tear notices that she has been looking for food lately and hears a mimick of a hare. She swiftly turns, lowering her fragile body and pouncing on the small creature. Tear smiles at the small award and pads to a different location in the meadow. She's a bit closer to the others than what she'd think, but they haven't harmed Tear so why not get a bit close? She smiles again and bites into the hare. "This could be a new start for me." Tear whispers.

Raven watched the vixens movement with growing curiosity. The male didn't seem to like her and she wasn't sure what to think of her. She was glad when the male lowered his lip as the vixen wrapper her luxuiant tail around his leg. She walked toward the side. These two could settle their dispute if there was one. She missed the company of her two fellow wolves, Kage and Raiden. She lowered her ears and slinked silently into the shadows, and resumed the life of a ghost.

Post by Raiden Mon Jan 14, 2013 2:45 pm

As Raiden slept. He could only hear the sound of the wind, the rustling leaves that danced with the rhythm of the wind. His ears perked as he felt Raven walk out and back into the den but did not mind and had ignored it. He continued to sleep.

All was quiet until he had heard small branches breaking from afar. Raiden slowly awoke from his slumber and sniffed a good whiff of scents of not just stranger wolves but also other critters. He walked out of the den and stretched first before he ran towards where the unfamiliar scents were located. As the scent got stronger Raiden ran faster and faster but then hears a faint chuckle. He then disappears but to only reappear once more behind the wolf that was left unseen by the others[Rin]. Raiden smirks at the wolf in front of him. He quietly raised his large paw and took a hold on the watching wolf's tail. The wolf struggled but Raiden paid no heed to this and grab him by the neck with his strong maw but was gentle enough not to hurt the stranger wolf. Raiden lead himself to where Raven's location.

He dropped the wolf into the ground but before it could fight back, Raiden had his paw over the wolf's stomach and at the same time putting enough pressure to restrain.
"What is going on here?" He asked with a stern and deep voice. "State your name and business here." He said but now with a threatening tone in his voice.

Raven cocked an ear. She heard something. Raiden she thought. She hurried up to the two wolves half hidden in the shadows. "Raiden," she said, acting surprised. She saw the other wolf under Raidens paws. "Let the stranger up Raiden he is of no harm to us," she said firmly. "What are you doing here?" She asked. She looked at the visitor up and down while waiting for Raiden's reply. "What do we have here?" She said walking around him.
